Mound Visits, 1/31/19

Many people get excited when they meet a famous athlete or entertainer. But they are only human, with perhaps special gifts (flaws, too) that last a short while. James tells us that we are all “a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.” (James 4:14).

But there is great hope and excitement because the Creator of the universe wants us to get to know Him and be near to Him. James, in his New Testament letter reminds us, “Come near to God and He will come near to you” (James 4:8). God not only wants to be near to us, He wants to help us have a fruitful life and then an eternal life…”Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.”(James 4:10)

We become desensitized to the message because we allow ourselves to hear and read it without the awe that it deserves…
-God loves you!
-He gave His Son to die and pay the penalty for OUR sins!
-We can have a relationship (eternal relationship), with the living God!

Getting to know a celebrity means nothing. Drawing near to God means everything!
