We all have regrets. We all have weaknesses. Before meeting and following Christ, Paul was a persecutor of Christians. Later in his life, he developed a “thorn in his flesh” that nagged him constantly until he left this world. He never revealed the exact pain or illness he had. Evil past, physical weakness… God still used Paul in an incredible way as a missionary, church planter and prolific writer of letters to individuals and churches. Besides Jesus, he probably did more to shape Christianity than any other person. Even with the regrets and weaknesses we each have, we can still be used. God tells us today, just as he revealed to Paul over 2,000 years ago, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
(2 Corinthians 10:9)
