Mound Visits, 3/17/17

Yesterday afternoon I had just returned home after a busy day when someone pulled up behind me in my driveway. As this man walked near me with a smile, I realized it was a former player who I had not seen in well over 20 years! It was so much fun to talk and reminisce. It meant a lot to me that he would stop by unannounced to spend time to just “hang out.”

I wasn’t angry with my former player for staying away for so long. That thought never crossed my mind. I was moved by how much I had missed him and was grateful to spend time with him.

When you get too busy to pray or spend time in God’s Word, God isn’t angry with you…He misses you. And He finds great joy if you choose to visit with Him and just “hang out” with Him…especially if it’s been a while and it’s unannounced.

In the parable of the Lost Son, the father’s reaction to seeing his son says it all: “But while the son was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arm around him and kissed him.”
(Luke 15:20)
