Mound Visits, 3/28/17

When my sons were very small, I would come home from work and immediately both boys would run to me with a big smile on their faces, jump in to my arms and give me a hug. Then, we would just enjoy each other’s presence for a few minutes. I would have been disappointed if they would have started asking me to give them something as soon as they saw me.
Sometimes, it would be good, when I approach God in prayer to just relax and enjoy His presence. I confess…I don’t do that nearly as often as I should.
King David is described in the Bible as “a man after God’s own heart. We know that David sinned, but you can’t read the Psalms without understanding that David really knew how to just enjoy being in God’s presence.
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow and death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
(Psalm 23:4)
