Mound Visits, 5/20/21

I’m reading a book about the four or five decades in America prior to the Civil War. One thing that’s really standing out is that some of our greatest statesmen made hundreds of long, eloquent speeches, but the author mentions nothing about the prayer life of these men. It’s no wonder America shed so much blood on battlefields during the 1860’s. These great leaders thought they could convince the other side to change through speeches, compromises and negotiations. Like many today, they tried to handle
God-sized problems by themselves.

Let’s learn from history. Let’s pray for our leaders and America’s challenges and ask God to intervene.

Jesus said…

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; APART FROM ME YOU CAN DO NOTHING.”
John 15:5 (emphasis mine)
