Babe Ruth, at one time, was the most famous person in the world. His notoriety was like Michael Jordan, Mohammad Ali and Humphrey Bogart all rolled in to one. When he retired from baseball, he had set numerous records, including home runs (714), RBI (2214), walks (2062) and….strikeouts. The Sultan of Swing struck out 1330 times! The Babe did not allow striking out prevent him from becoming the greatest player in the game. He persevered. We often fail, as well. Do we let failures prevent us from being who God wants us to be? The writer of Hebrews said this: “…let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith…” (Hebrews 12:1-2).
