Mound Visits, 8/30/19
While on the road one night I was channel surfing to see if I could find something positive to watch. My hand stopped the remote on a preacher admonishing his congregation for their lack of faith. He said, “if you want a new car, pray in faith! If you want a bigger house, pray in faith!” Cynically, my immediate thought was, “how small the faith must have been of those who walked closest to Him here on earth. Some spent much time in prison and most of them died because they followed Jesus.”
Jesus didn’t put a lot of emphasis on obtaining wealth or material things. He knew that material things bring only fleeting happiness. His emphasis was on love and the peace in the hearts of men and women.
“Foxes have dens to live in, and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place even to lay his head.” (Matthew 8:20)
